How is Destination Pueblo promoting the area?

Together, the Greater Pueblo Chamber of Commerce and Destination Pueblo are doing a lot to promote Pueblo as a tourism destination. The Pueblo Chamber of Commerce is buying ads in publications like: Official State Vacation Guide, Vacation Planner COOP with Lodging Association, Golf View, Golf News and publications in the Denver Area. They are placing billboards throughout the Pueblo area, during the months of April through September, and advertising through cable television in the Denver area. Pueblo is also being represented well at trade shows, such as: Denver Golf EXPO, Kansas Sport Boat & Travel, Colorado Sport Boat & Travel and the Meeting Industry Council Conference & EXPO.

Destination Pueblo and the Greater Pueblo Chamber print monthly event posters displayed throughout the state. Both web sites include links to the Pueblo Events Calendar, which include many things to do in the Pueblo Area. They have also developed a monthly e-newsletter that is sent to locals and people interested in traveling to Pueblo. The group is placing weekly ads in the Pueblo Chieftain called "What to do When Company Comes," and also developing a Friday morning segment on KDZA radio about "What to Do When Company Comes."

What can YOU do to promote tourism in Pueblo?

First of all, recognize the value of tourism . . .

  • Understand that dollars coming in from outsiders stay here to help our local businesses AND you!
  • Go visit YOUR community!
  • Stop by the Pueblo Chamber of Commerce to get brochures on attractions…for days open, times, etc.
  • Explore the city and region for new things
  • Check out the signage
  • Group things together to make a day of it
  • Think like a tour bus operator
  • Invite people to Pueblo…your kids, relatives, friends, business associates!
  • Take them out to tour Pueblo

And, then become a tourism ambassador . . .

  • Smile at people
  • Say "hello"
  • Talk positive . . . about everything!
  • Know how to give directions
  • Remember exit numbers
  • Read the paper to find out about activities
  • Look for the positives
  • And most of all . . . speak well of Pueblo.
  • There's ALWAYS something to do that's fun!
